"The Importance of Primary Teeth"
Primary teeth are important, even though they're only temporary
"The first primary teeth to come in are the two bottom front teeth between the ages of 6 and 8 months. Then the four upper front teeth emerge through the gums. The rest of your baby’s teeth will typically appear in pairs along the sides of the jaw until about 2 ½ years of age, at which time your child should have all their primary teeth. Then between the ages of 5 and 6, the first permanent teeth will start to erupt. Some of the permanent teeth replace primary teeth and some don’t. Your child’s primary teeth are very important. These first teeth hold space for the permanent teeth and they help your child chew and speak. They also are important for appearance and good self-esteem. For these reasons, it is very important to provide your child with a nutritious diet full of healthy foods and see to it that they practice good oral hygiene to keep these teeth healthy."
