A CPAP or continuous positive airway pressure machine is a common form of treatment that uses mild air pressure to keep the airways open during sleep. If a CPAP machine is not sufficient, oral appliances from Dr. Wood may be necessary. These devices are worn in your mouth and help keep your lower jaw forward to open the airway throughout the night. Similar to a retainer or mouth guard, it works to prevent your tongue from collapsing in the back of your throat.
